Η Hellenic Parliament honours the Day of Remembrance of the Genocide of the Greeks of Pontus, as has become the custom on 19 May, by lighting up the front of its building tonight with a symbolic logo-message. With this action, the Hellenic Parliament, as it says in a statement, declares its unquenchable historical memory and the the ongoing demand for historical restitution for the extermination of the Greeks of Asia Minor.
Also, today, Wednesday 19 May, at 09:30 in the morning, a Special Session of the Plenary of the Parliament will be held on the Day of Remembrance of the Genocide of the Greeks of Pontus.
The Greek Parliament, on 24 February 1994, officially recognised the genocide of the Pontians by the Turkish state and unanimously voted to designate 19 May as the Day of Remembrance of the Genocide of the Greeks of Pontus by Law 2193/1994.
