A serious act of vandalism occurred at the Patrikio School in Karava, where unknown individuals threw stones and shattered a large number of windows in the historic building.
The damage was discovered on the afternoon of Monday, August 3, 2026, causing deep sadness and outrage among the School’s Administrative Committee and the local community.
In a statement, the Management Committee described the act as unacceptable and utterly reprehensible, noting that it cannot be treated as a «game» or mere recklessness.
As has been pointed out, such actions cause serious property damage, place a financial burden on the local community, and devalue a site of particular historical and sentimental value to Karava.
All necessary steps will be taken immediately in response to this incident to officially document the damage, notify the relevant authorities, and begin the process of restoring the building.
The Management Committee urges anyone who knows or has noticed anything related to the vandalism to contact the appropriate authorities. At the same time, it urges parents to talk to their children about respecting public property and the history of the area.
«The Patrikios School is part of Karava’s history and identity. Protecting it is the responsibility of all of us,» the statement concludes.
