Two men, one Greek and one foreign national, were arrested in the course of a flagrante delicto procedure by a team from the D.A.E.E. (Arson Crimes Division) and the Kranidi Fire Department, on charges of negligently causing a fire in a forested area, in the Korakia area of Argolis, as announced by the Fire Department.
According to reports, the two defendants were arrested following tips from local residents while they were performing electrical work at an old company construction site, next to the facilities of the luxury hotel, which in fact sustained damage from the fire. It is believed that the fire was caused by a spark during the work.
The competent prosecutor’s office was notified of the incident, and an administrative fine was imposed in accordance with the relevant Fire Department regulation.
The detainees were given a 48-hour deadline and will appear before the investigating judge tomorrow at noon to provide explanations regarding the work they were carrying out at that specific location and the fire.
