“Mr. Mitsotakis writes the shoes of the 100,000 students and their families who take their national exams with schools closed half the year in the midst of pandemic and reduces admissions by a third with the Minimum Admission Base,” said the Alexis Tsipras from the floor of the Parliament.
The President of the SYRIZA, attacked the prime minister, whom he accused of “political cowardice” and of “running away and not answering for the third time.
Tsipras continued by saying:
“Why such anger with the younger generation?; He condemns them to work unpaid ten-hour days, blames them for the pandemic, and now he throws them out of the university. Our Moses turned out to be Herod.
The goal is 25,000 fewer admissions this year so that college owners can make a killing. 1% of the admissions were mandatory among high school graduates, about 600-700 each year. Do you know who these kids are? The ones who don't have daddy to pay, but work to get an education. You are cutting off the future for these kids.”.
“Justice must finally return, justice is justice, justice is that a child who cannot afford it should be able to study.We were increasing the number of students and hiring teachers, but this government is closing classes, reducing the number of students and hiring police officers,” the SYRIZA president added.
Referring to the event marking 40 years of Greece's accession to the European Union, Tsipras said that it was “impertinent in front of the leadership of Europe” for Mitsotakis to speak as a right-wing party leader in a coffee shop and not as Prime Minister.
And he continued:
“A dark break to rescue the country from the bankruptcy led by the Southwest?;
A dark break from the memoranda after 8 years? Dark break the debt settlement that keeps us in pandemic today? Dark break the 37 billion found in the public coffers, the cushion on which he sleeps soundly today. Yesterday's statement by Mitsotakis is impertinent, it is cowardly that he does not respond today.”.
“Mr Mitsotakis dared to speak on behalf of the progressive forces”, Alexis Tsipras added: “The ‘vasta Schäuble’ became progressive and the rest of us became fascists.
He speaks of demagoguery, the one who dressed up as a Macedonian gladiator with the Golden Dawn. Now he secretly honours the Prespa Agreement, does not even dare to mention the name of North Macedonia and for six months he does not bring the memoranda of understanding to Parliament.”.
“Mr Mitsotakis is the biggest political fraud in the modern history of the country, the biggest demagogue”, Alexis Tsipras stressed and added: “When he talks about populism and demagoguery, he should look in the mirror and see his own face. Next to the entry demagogue will be the photo of Mr Mitsotakis.
