To withdraw the amendment equalising the professional rights of graduates of the university with those of graduates private colleges, requested by president of SYRIZA - Progressive Alliance, Alexis Tsipras.
At the same time, the leader of the opposition demands the dismissal of the Minister of Education, Nikis Kerameos, saying that this is a one-way street for the Prime Minister.
The President of SYRIZA had a meeting today with the President of the Technical Chamber of Greece, George Stassino and the President of the Economic Chamber of Greece, Konstantinos Kollias.
According to a statement by SYRIZA, during the discussion, Tsipras described as «reasonable» and «fair» the strong reactions of scientists «for the unconstitutional night amendment of the Minister of Education, Ms Kerameos, which equates the professional rights of graduates of higher education institutions with those of graduates of three-year colleges».
He also spoke of a «scandalous amendment-gift» to private colleges at the expense of tens of thousands of engineers and economists who are graduates of universities and at the expense of public education.
In this context, according to the same information, he described as self-evident the strong reactions even of the same executives of the New Democracy and stressed the need for engineers and economists MPs of all parties to take a clear and public position on the «shameful amendment».
Finally, he expressed his assessment that after the storm of reactions, the withdrawal of the controversial amendment and the removal of Ms Kerameos from the Ministry of Education is a one-way street for Mr Mitsotakis.
