In 1993, the Saudi «businessman» Osama bin Laden was the darling of the West and imperialist America. Propaganda portrayed him as an anti-Soviet fighter who was organizing his army for «peace.» The U.S. armed him to the teeth against the Russians. Eight years later, he became the perpetrator of the 9/11 attacks in New York. The Taliban already controlled Afghanistan, and al-Qaeda was declaring jihad against the West. It was the year 2001.
It has been 20 years since the war against Osama and the Taliban was declared. Billions of dollars were spent to fight the Taliban. All NATO countries spent taxpayers’ money, the arms industries profited, soldiers were killed and left behind orphaned children and widows, and ordinary people were killed as collateral damage. Hundreds of thousands of Afghan refugees scattered far and wide to escape torture, beheadings, mutilations, and death.
Exactly 20 years have passed. The U.S. is experiencing a new Vietnam. Yet another defeat has been written into the pages of its history. Millions of people are now under the control of the Taliban and Sharia law. Europe is facing a new, massive wave of migration. The world is expected to witness even more horrific scenes.
When you feed the snake to fight the «enemy,» there may come a day when it bites you, too. It’s the same story everywhere from the Eastern Mediterranean to the Indian subcontinent. Similar stories can be found in every corner of the globe. Even the stones know it: He who sows the wind will reap the whirlwind.
