The shipwreck survivors off Diakofto are going through a nightmare after the maritime accident on the sailboat they were aboard on the evening of Wednesday, October 5, as they were sailing from the coast of Asia Minor.
The refugees and migrants of Afghan origin who were rescued gathered at the school in Frilingianika, while some of them were taken to the hospital for first aid.
Distribution points for food and essential supplies
The need for food, medicine, clothing, and hygiene supplies is clear, and collection points have been designated on the island.
These are:
- Kato Livadi – Coffee Shop, 8:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.
- Kapsali – Porto Delfino Hotel
- River – Astikon since this morning
The Kythira Solidarity Group emphasizes that a large quantity of supplies has already been collected at the Frilingianika elementary school, so there is no need to send any further supplies there.
Procurement priorities include:
• Men's pants in various sizes, approximately 50
• Men's shoes
• Underwear, socks
• Women's Pants, approximately 10–15
• Baby wipes
• Croissants, cookies, crackers, juices, water, etc.
• Toothbrushes and toothpaste
• Towels
• Rugs and carpets to sleep on
