Following the interconnection of Creteand the Peloponnese and the upgrade of the Peloponnese’s power grid, the first permits for the installation of industrial wind farms in the mountains of Cape Malea are being issued.
The Peloponnese Region is calling for public comments through May 28 on the Environmental Impact Study (EIA) for a wind farm planned for Mount Krithina, on the Malea Peninsula, within the administrative boundaries of Agios Nikolaos Voion, on behalf of ELLAKTOR S.A., which has received two production licenses, and on Kythira.
The wind energy potential in the region is very good, and, after all, the Cape Malea peninsula is also a priority area for wind energy (PAE), which has led major domestic conglomerates to seek to profit from it.
It should be noted that the area is designated as a strictly protected zone in the General Urban Plan (GUP) of Voion, which is currently awaiting approval (it is unknown when it will be approved…), General Urban Plan (GUP) for Voion—the approval date of which is unknown—and is proposed as a Regional Environmental Park and a Landscape of International Significance.
It goes without saying that residents, associations, and local organizations, as well as the Municipal Council of Monemvasia, should participate in the public consultation.
Take part in the public consultation on the environmental impact studies for the first two wind farms of «ELLACTOR» out of the 250 wind turbines being licensed in Kavomalia:
