The director of Kythira State Airport sent a letter of thanks to the media for the contribution made by agronomist Thanasis Samios to the effort to beautify the outdoor areas. Read below:
Good morning, everyone
Following the completion of the relevant public works project worth 140.000 € (euro) for the the neatness and functionality of the airport facilities, as well as the construction of enclosed spaces totaling 300 square meters , preparations are in full swing to ensure the airport looks its best, as it deserves and in honor of its anniversary Golden Jubilee.
The Airport Director was particularly pleased to accept the proposal from the agronomist, who is well known for his integrity, hard work, and good taste Mr. Thanasis Samiou, who offered selflessly to spruce up the ornamental flowerbed in the flag area, which, unfortunately, had been neglected for years and hid the beauty of the terminal building from those arriving at the airport, on its west side.
So he assembled a three-person crew, gathered the necessary tools, and transformed the west side of the terminal, while also clearing away a pile of trash that had been hidden among the roots of the bushes. It took more than 15 trips with his truck to remove the prunings and trash, so we can achieve the perfect result you see in the photos.
I would like to thank Dear Thanasis, and them his tireless people, for their valuable contribution to our airport, and I hope this gesture will inspire others to follow suit, because times are tough, public funds are limited, and the needs of public institutions and facilities are many.
Well-maintained public spaces, especially in tourist areas such as our island, are a hallmark of the culture, the orderliness and the cleanliness of their residents, and they serve as a means of attracting visitors. Ultimately, even the proper management and disposal of trash by each of us contributes to the island’s impeccable image.
