Farewell
Panagiotis, the Psalti, linked his life with the struggle for the progress of Kythera. Nurtured by socialist ideals and the principles of democracy, he inspired a whole generation with his example. He had the good fortune to experience the successes of a Greek renaissance in the creative period of PASOK and to contribute to the cultivation of the unity of a large majority on our island for the solution of the Pancythian problems.
Seeing the need for cooperation between the progressive forces, he did not hesitate to clash with the party bureaucracy inside and outside his party.
His thinking was always above petty politics and localist planning. In all the positions in which he served the public he was distinguished for his sobriety in his relationships and his perseverance in achieving his goals.
The loss of Panagiotis Protopsaltis leaves an unfulfilled void in the democratic party of Kythera at a time when conservatism and obscurantism are penetrating Greek society.
Let his legacy be an example to us all.
