The funeral service of the former President of the Republic, Christos A. Sarzetakis, will be held today, Monday 7 February 2022, at 12:00, at the Metropolis of Athens.
According to an announcement from the office of the late former President of the Republic, due to health measures, the burial of Christos A. Sarzetakis will be held in a close family circle at the First Cemetery of Athens.
It should also be noted that the family expressed the wish that any donations be made to the Flame: Association of Parents of Children with Neoplasm Disease and to the Hestia Centre for Social Care of People with Mental Retardation.
Public expense of the funeral
With honours of a Head of State will be buried the former President of the Republic Christos Sarzetakis, while it was observed three days of public mourning.
By Joint Ministerial Decision of the Ministers of Interior Makis Voridis, Finance, Christos Staikouras and National Defence Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, the funeral of Christos Sarzetakis will be held at public expense. It was decided to pay at his funeral the honours due to a head of state ‘as a minimum tribute for the exceptional services he offered to the people, the Homeland and the Nation«.

Today, Monday, February 7 and tomorrow, Tuesday, February 8, there will be a book of condolences for the late former President of the Republic, Christos Sarzetakis, at the entrance of the Presidential Palace.
As announced, the necessary health protection measures will be observed.
