The Municipality of Kythira has issued an announcement regarding the program of this year’s celebrations for October 28.
The statement reads:
The celebration, which will take place on Friday, October 28, 2022, will include the following events:
1. General flag-raising at all public buildings, public entities, banks, and homes beginning on the morning of the 27thof October through the evening of October 30.
2. Lighting of all public and municipal buildings, public legal entities, and banks during the evening hours of the 27thof and of 28of October 2022.
3. A Doxology at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Crucifixion in Chora, Kythira, on October 28, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. Presided over by His Eminence Seraphim, Metropolitan of Kythira and Antikythira.
4. Memorial service at Stai Square in Chora, Kythira, on October 28, 2022, at 11:30 a.m.
5. Wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial in Stai Square by:
*Mayor of Kythira, Efstratios Charchalakis
*Commander of the Naval Observatory, Commander Emmanouil Amblianitis, Hellenic Navy
*Head of the Kythira TACAN, Sergeant Nikolaos Serifa
*Commander of the Kythira Coast Guard Station, YPolice Officer 1st Class Peliko Triantafyllos
*Chief of the Kythira Port Authority, Lieutenant Niki Giannakopoulou

The Deputy Mayor is designated as the master of ceremonies Georgios Komenos
The events will be musically covered by the Potamos Philharmonic Orchestra, under the supervision of the Director, Ms. Panagiotis Leftheris.
