Today we are publishing Father Panagiotis Megalokonomos’s response to the technical departments of the Municipality of Kythira:
Esteemed employees of the Technical Department of the Municipality of Kythira and Antikythira,
I don't usually respond. However, since you spoke of restoring the truth—thereby implying that I am lying—I would like to point out the following:
When you try to tell the truth, you should respond to the questions people ask you. Any intelligent reader has understood that, based on the payment details you provided regarding the project, you are confirming that the contractor was left unpaid!
But what matters to people passing by on this road is its condition. It would be a good idea to check it out for yourself: drive down this road during rush hour and cross paths with other oncoming vehicles, so that you, too, will soon be forced to choose the time and exact location where you will wait, since the oncoming vehicle has the right of way, preferably without causing damage to the vehicle or anyone’s safety. Then determine whether the road is ready («according to 70%») for the asphalt to be laid.
Besides, the contractor (the one doing the work, not the lady you’re writing about, whom I don’t know) and the deputy mayor, Mr. Kominos, admitted that improvements are needed to make the road passable.
The «red-paint» improvements made yesterday, Wednesday, July 26, 23, reveal both panic and contempt for road users, since they have effectively made the road even more dangerous, especially for two-wheeled vehicles.
I will not continue this conversation any further. You should know that, as the saying goes, «a priest’s lips do not lie.».
With respect,
Father Panagiotis Megalokonomos
