The head of the minor opposition Anargyros Sophios opens a front with the Municipal Authority for the deterioration of everyday life and the dangerous sloppiness in the management of public works. On the occasion of a citizen's complaint about unannounced road closures and traffic chaos, the opposition leader launched a fierce attack, sounding the alarm even for the loss of human lives.
Mr Sophios focused his criticism on the inability - or unwillingness - of the Municipality of Kythera to inform citizens. Commenting on the announcements that the construction companies themselves are forced to issue, he asked pointedly. I guess because it too sees the indifference and tries to make things easier for the residents.«.
He also called on the administration of the Municipality «to deal with the daily life of the citizens and make it a priority».
The most worrying aspect of the Sophiou intervention concerns the smooth passage of emergency vehicles. As he pointed out, «Let's hope that there will not be a similar incident in an ambulance, police car or fire truck because it will not be a risk of a person not getting to work on time, but human life will be at risk.».
His warning was quickly confirmed by residents of the island. Responding to the reports of citizens, Anargyros Sophios did not fail to comment in a sarcastic way on the usual tactic of disclaiming responsibility, stating ironically.
