The 1:2.5 scale model of the first Greek drone, the latest technology UAV of the «Arhytas» programme, is on display at the EAV exhibition area at this year's TIF. It is a mixed-wing type aircraft, with a design that differs from all other UAVs, as it features VTOL (vertical take-off and landing).
The pavilion of the Hellenic Aircraft Industry at the 86th Thessaloniki International Fair held its inauguration today.
In addition to the drone, the innovations, expertise and the wide range of the company's activities are presented at the stand. Among other things, the Forward Section of Aft Fuselage of the F-16 aircraft is on display at the EAB stand.
In addition, in the TIF exhibition area, the comprehensive training programmes of EAV are presented in detail, covering the whole range of skills in the field of aviation maintenance (aircraft and helicopters, A/C engines, electronics), special courses (structural repair, welding techniques), procedures, management, quality courses, etc.
The heads of the General Staff, Vice Admiral Themistocles Bourolias, Lieutenant General Haralambos Lalousis and Vice Admiral Stylianos Petrakis, toured the pavilion.

The VTOL UAV of the «Archytas» project is based on a fixed-wing platform of the large tactical UAV class.
As announced by EAB, to date, the UAV's fuselage and propulsion system have been configured.
Also, the internal layout of electronic systems, payload, fuel tank, VTOL auxiliary systems, etc.
The design is expected to be completed in November, with construction of the first experimental model starting in December.
The implementation of the project is expected in about one and a half years.
For its construction, EAB is collaborating with three universities, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the Democritus University of Thrace and the University of Thessaly.
