The faction «All Together, Kythira - Antikythera» welcomes the submission of a question by the regional councillors of the «Attica Circle of Cooperation and Trust», Mrs. Maria Kazakou and Mrs. Katerina Logothetis, regarding the inclusion of the project «Extension of the runway for take-offs and landings at Kythira State Airport and related upgrading works» in the executable works programme of the Region of Attica.
This development follows the initiative of our party, when we submitted with more than 25 signatures of citizens the relevant request to the Kythera Municipal Council, which led to the recent unanimous decision of the Council on 30/06/2025. This proves that collective movements of citizens and institutions can bring results and promote important issues to the higher levels of the administration.
The upgrading of Kythera Airport is a vital infrastructure for access, safety, the enhancement of the island's insularity and the extension of the tourist season. It is a demand that Kythirians have been demanding for two decades and cannot be delayed any longer.
We call on the Region of Attica, in cooperation with the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Municipality of Kythera, to proceed immediately with the integration of the project, the financing of the studies and the preparation of the tender. The local community has spoken with a clear voice and the responsibility now belongs to the State.
