With the Mayor's Decision 01/2026, posted on «Diavgeia,» the Municipality of Kythira proceeded to appoint the new Deputy Mayors and transfer responsibilities for the term of office from January 5, 2026 to January 5, 2027. The decision is signed by the mayor. Eustratios Ath. Charhalakis, as part of the reorganization of municipal administration for the smooth operation of services.
According to the decision, a total of five Deputy Mayors (four salaried and one unpaid):
Georgios Kominos of Konstantinos (Deputy Mayor): responsible for Shops and Businesses, Primary Sector, Social Policy and Welfare, Municipal Cemeteries, civil weddings in the Municipal Unit of Kythira, traffic regulations, and other responsibilities in the Municipal Unit of Kythira.
Panagiotis Zantiotis, son of Georgios (salaried): responsible for Water Supply–Sewerage and for the Municipality's relations with expatriate Kythirians and Antikythirians.
Dimitrios Kalligeros, son of Ioannis (salaried): responsible for Financial Management, municipal revenue and real estate, as well as Education, school infrastructure, and playgrounds.
Ioannis Katsanevakis of Efstratios (salaried): responsible for the Municipal Unit of Antikythira, Cleanliness and Municipal Lighting, as well as Civil Protection.
Stamatina Varda of Christos (salaried): responsible for Tourism Policy and Promotion, Culture, Public Relations, and the operation of the Potamos KEP.
The decision also explicitly provides for Deputy Mayor replacements in the event of absence or incapacity, as well as the appointment of a deputy mayor, while repealing any previous relevant decision. The new composition of the municipal administration takes effect from the day of its posting and marks the beginning of the 2026 administrative cycle, with a clear distribution of roles and responsibilities.
