The rights to the film «Born to Be Murdered», a thriller starring John David Washington, has been acquired by Netflix and is expected to premiere in 2021. Alicia Vikander and Vicki Cribbs also star in the film, which was filmed in Greece in 2019 and marks the English-language directorial debut of Italian director Ferdinando Cito Filomarino. The script has been written by Kevin Rice.
The film is set in Athens and the Continent and follows a young couple (Washington and Vikander) who, while on holiday in Greece, fall victim to a violent conspiracy with tragic consequences.
John David Washington was born on July 28, 1984 and began his career as an athlete in American football. But he was quickly won over by acting. His film career began in a television series HBO, «Ballers», where he played the role of Ricky Jerret, alongside his father Denzel Washington and his mother Pauletta. The series lasted four seasons.
Bigger than the four children of the Washington family, he appeared at the age of seven as a student in a Harlem classroom in Spike Lee's 1992 feature film Malcolm X, which starred his father in the title role. In 2018, he starred in Monsters and Men and Monster and appeared in The Old Man & the Gun, opposite Robert Redford.
