The new airport manager Antonios Papadopoulos has been installed at Kythera State Airport, replacing Stavros Paizano who is retiring. In a warm atmosphere a welcome ceremony was organised by the airport management and staff to welcome the new airport manager. Mr. Antonios Papadopoulos is originally from Kythera, and specifically from the settlement of Agios Ilias. Below is the press release that was distributed to the media today, Saturday:
Good morning to all Happy New Year with a Y G E I A !!!!
In a cordial family atmosphere, I met all the staff of the hospital and the Kythera State Airport «Alexandros Arist. Onassis», to which the Honourable Governor of Civil Aviation Authority Mr. George Dritsacos, ...he put me on the 31 December 2021 as the new airport manager.
After a long career in aviation as an aircraft captain, the decision to end my career in my home country was a conscious one.
So today, on the occasion of my assumption of office, I address the residents of our island and Kytherians everywhere and declare that my concern will be the further improvement of the jewel of our island's airport, taking over from the outgoing Airport Manager Mr. Stavros Paizano, whom I thank for the interest he showed during his term of office, as well as for his general contribution to our island.
