A significant boost for Trifyllion is the appointment of a new midwife, Ms. Christina Aggeli, who officially took up her post at the General Hospital – Health Center of Kythira on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Her presence fills a critical gap, as the gynecology department will be operating without a permanent doctor for the foreseeable future due to maternity and childcare leave.
According to the hospital administration, Ms. Aggeli will take on a number of important duties related to prevention and education for the women of the island: She will collect samples for Pap tests, provide guidance on breast self-examination for early detection of signs of malignancy, and offer ongoing support to new mothers on proper breastfeeding. At the same time, she will offer parenting preparation counseling to expectant mothers and educate teenagers on reproductive health issues—a service that has been virtually non-existent on the island until now.
The Hospital also announced that it is sponsoring tomorrow's event organized by the volunteer group «Participation» entitled «I watch over you, I take care of you», which is aimed at caregivers of elderly, bedridden, and mobility-impaired individuals. The event will take place on Saturday, November 15, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Kythira Association in Chora.
Finally, the Head of the Blood Donation Service at Tzanneio Hospital, Ms. Fotini Spyridopoulou, sent a letter of thanks to Trifyllion for its excellent cooperation and support in this year's voluntary blood donation campaign in Kythira.
