Specifically, the National Theater kicked off this year's Epidaurus Festival by presenting «Horsemen» of Aristophanes (June 25, 26, 27), the poet’s first play, with particularly sharp political and satirical undertones, directed by Konstantinos Rigos and a cast of distinguished leading actors. The National Theater’s second summer production is «The Phoenician Women» by Euripides (30, 31.7 & 1.8), the iconic tragedy in which the poet presents us with a subversive retelling of the myth of the Lavdakides.
The work is presented in a contemporary production featuring a distinguished cast and creative team, bearing the signature of Yiannis Moschou in directing. At the same time, another new production has been added to the summer season’s lineup, which will be presented at the «School of Athens – Irini Papa.».
