Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis sent a message of unity from Tinos, where he was present on the island for the celebration of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. Mr. Mitsotakis stressed that «from remote chapels to the great shrines of our Church, Greece and Orthodoxy celebrate the Assumption of the Virgin Mary today, drawing strength and faith so that we can individually and collectively overcome great difficulties and walk the path of progress, the path of self-confidence, the path of social cohesion.».
«On this great day for Orthodoxy, the main challenge for our country remains unity and commitment to the goals of the future,» said the prime minister, adding:
«Let us stand by those who are most in need and overcome the difficulties. And with faith, we will remain faithful to the path we have charted for a Greece of prosperity, self-confidence, and social cohesion. I sincerely wish every Greek woman and man everywhere on Earth many happy returns.».
The Prime Minister arrived in Tinos at 9 a.m., where he was welcomed by the leadership of the Armed Forces, Minister of Defense Nikos Panagiotopoulos, and Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff General Konstantinos Floros. He boarded the missile boat ‘Mykonios“ where, after a salute, Mr. Mitsotakis paid tribute to the memory of those who fell on the cruiser ”Elli“ by throwing a laurel wreath into the sea.
He then proceeded to the Holy Temple of the Annunciation, where he venerated the icon of the Virgin Mary and attended the Archiepiscopal Divine Liturgy for the Dormition of the Mother of God, presided over by His Eminence, the Most Reverend Dorotheos, Metropolitan of Syros and Tinos.
