Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, speaking to Bloomberg, pledged that Greece will repay its bailout loans ahead of schedule, «sending a message of confidence to financial markets as he begins his second term».
«We will be in a position before the end of the year to actually repay ahead of schedule,» Mitsotakis said during an interview with Bloomberg television in Athens.
«It is a commitment to the investors,» he stressed, as ERT reported.
«I want to continue to make Greece a very attractive destination for foreign investment,» he said, adding that «we are not only focusing on growth, but we also want to ensure that our debt-to-GDP ratio continues to fall at a very fast pace.».
According to the agency, «Mitsotakis said he aims for Greece to regain its investment grade this year, 13 years after losing it at the beginning of a long and painful economic crisis. The 55-year-old prime minister also promised to accelerate his efforts to upgrade the Greek economy and reduce the debt burden.».
