Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis sends the message that OPECEPE is «one of the last battles we are fighting with the old Greece that hurt us and bankrupted us,» noting that «the agenda for the next four years includes the complete restructuring of the primary sector.».
Speaking on the Business Podcast, the prime minister said, «On the same day, we have two different Greeces: on the one hand, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, president of the Eurogroup, and on the other, the so-called »Frappe«.
«I know which Greece I am with and which Greece I am fighting for. There are battles we will lose, but we will win the war,» he emphasized.
At the same time, he urged the creation of «a committee in Parliament, with a cross-party chair, to come up with a plan with broader consensus for the complete restructuring of the primary sector.».
Commenting on the wave of inflation that has brought Greek households to their knees, the prime minister noted that «the answer to inflation is to support disposable income,» stating that «the average salary is €1,500, the minimum wage is €950, but this is not enough, which is why the budget includes €1.76 billion in tax breaks.».
At the same time, Mr. Mitsotakis left open the possibility of reducing the advance tax payment for legal entities.
«Let others write the books about us»
When asked whether he would write a book after leaving politics, he replied, «Let others write books about us.».
«I signed a four-year contract with Greek citizens—in 2027, they have two options: to dismiss me or to renew my contract for another four years,» he said, adding that «politics is not forever – I will definitely work after politics.».
