Mega Channel: Report on the death of a 60-year-old woman in Kythira

It should be noted that the 60-year-old woman was found hanged and the man who discovered her body remains in a state of shock, while her close relatives and friends are in deep mourning.

As reported to MEGA by the man who found the body of the 60-year-old woman: «From a distance, I saw something in the middle of the street and was startled. When I got closer, I saw that it was a human body. It looked like the person was either dead or unconscious.». Next to the charred remains of the 60-year-old woman, a lighter was found, as well as a container that probably contained turpentine.

According to people close to her, the woman had left her home on the evening of Wednesday, June 12. Her husband was not concerned, as he reportedly told the police that his wife had done this before. However, when the next morning passed without any sign of life from her, the police were notified.

The two notes

A medical examiner rushed to the scene, with police already taking statements from the unfortunate woman's relatives and colleagues. The information circulating since this morning, without having been officially confirmed, is that the woman left two notes before leaving her home.

The authorities are refraining from closing the case as a suicide for the time being, as they want to rule out even the slightest possibility that something else may have happened.  According to local residents, the 60-year-old woman had been going through her own personal Calvary in recent years, as, according to a family friend of the 60-year-old, she had lost a child and her father.

Her family cannot think of anyone who would have had a reason to harm her. A relative of the 60-year-old woman stated that: «She was a very dear person, we had no relatives here, nor did we fight over the fields. She was stressed about some issues concerning her, but she didn't express it much. In these cases, when a person does this, you can't know why they are doing it or if they can bear the burden they carry inside. It is not a criminal act by any means.».

The dispute over inheritance

However, according to reports, the 60-year-old woman had recently been involved in frequent disputes with a relative living in Athens over an inheritance matter.

Investigations in Kythira continue, with the 60-year-old woman's close relatives awaiting official information about the circumstances of her death.
