DIMY and Follow Your Art present the group exhibition MAKE. BELIEVE. PLAY. from 10 to 17 August 2025, at Mercato, in the country of Kythera. Exploring the emotional landscapes of childhood, the exhibition invites the viewer to revive the condition where play is his only language and awe of everything around him is his primary privilege.
The participating artists are Yannis Efthymiou, Joanna Burtenshaw, Xenia Papadopoulou, Iphigenia Papadatou, Cleopatra Tsalis, Drosia Tseri. The opening will take place on 11 August at 20.00, with many of the participating artists in attendance. Limited signed copies of their work will also be available in collaboration with DIMY.
DIMY and Follow Your Art, propose to the public an exhibition designed to be experienced, not just seen. Through installations, the work of six artists is presented, two of whom have deep connections to Chirigo. With the expressive landscape of Kythera exuding the spirit of discovery, and the island being associated not only with art, but also with literature and cinema, as a place of love, beauty and unfulfilled desire, the exhibition highlights aspects of each participating artist's personal utopia. The remote island is not only the natural place where the exhibition takes place, but also a symbol of the multiple forms of hiding places generated by the inexhaustible imagination of childhood.
Through interactive installations, works selected for their spontaneous theme and aesthetics, and three-dimensional, deconstructed compositions, MAKE. BELIEVE. PLAY. invites the public to become part of the project, contributing to the creation of their own emotional maps. Each installation is an invitation to pause, reflect and reconnect with the freedom and sense of awe we felt as children. With the work of the six artists creating a single playground of imagination, the play of childhood becomes a collaborative act, not only between artists, or artists and viewers, but also between the memories we carry and the stories that remain to be told.
The exhibition MAKE. BELIEVE. PLAY. and by extension the participating artists, DIMY and Follow Your Art remind visitors that there is no wrong way to create, feel, collaborate or play.
Laboratory
On 17 August, visual artists Drosia Tseri and Cleopatra Tsalis will conduct a 90-minute workshop for children and adults. This will be an opportunity to explore the limits of imagination, in a process as natural as breathing, in the heart of Kythera, at the peak of the Greek summer.
