The following is the text of a letter sent by the Vice Chair of the Committee on European Affairs of the Hellenic Parliament and Member of Parliament for Piraeus B, SYRIZA-PS, Nina Kasimatis in Mayor of Famagusta, Mr. Simos Ioannou, on the eve of the 47thof its dark anniversary Attila's invasion in Cyprus in light of the unlawful announcements Erdoğan – Tatar for the Varosha.
«Dear Mayor of Famagusta,
Dear Dr. Simos Ioannou,
Following our phone conversation, I am forwarding the following for your information: Minutes of my activities at the Council of Europe during the Plenary Sessions of January and April 2021, to promptly highlight and prevent further violations by Turkey of the enclosed city of Famagusta.
It is about 3 Questions I submitted as a Representative of the Party of the European Left before the Parliamentary Assembly of the 47 member states, during the German Presidency, calling for concrete measures to be taken against Turkey at a higher institutional level and specifically to:
– the Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany and Chair of the Committee of Ministers, Mr. Heiko Maas,
– the Germany's Federal Minister for European Affairs, Mr. Michael Roth,
– the President of the European Parliament, Mr. David Sassoli.
In anticipation of tonight’s rally organized by the Municipality of Famagusta, On the eve of the 47th anniversary of the first “Attila” operation, marking Erdogan’s illegal visit to the occupied territories and what it portends for Varosha, I send you my sporting regards. And the assurance that As a Greek Member of Parliament from the Left, I will always stand by your side, in our common struggle for the liberation of enslaved Famagusta and all of occupied Cyprus, for the return of refugees to their homes, the vindication of the struggle of the Greek Cypriot people for freedom and self-determination, and the repulsion of plans that seek to place Cyprus under permanent hostage-like conditions by the occupying Turkish forces.
With fraternal revolutionary greetings!
Nina G. Kasimati

Vice Chair of the Committee on European Affairs of the Hellenic Parliament,
