The temporary suspension of the commercial information system of all postal outlets was announced by the Hellenic Post because of cyberattack through malware that they received on Sunday night.
As stated in a statement, the ELTA «faced a cyber attack on its information systems last night through malicious software. The immediate reaction and actions of the relevant departmental functions limited and prevented an extension of the attack. We immediately notified and are working closely with all relevant government agencies as well as IT companies specializing in cybersecurity.
For prevention and security reasons and until all necessary actions are completed, it was decided to isolate the entire Data Center of the company. Therefore, we announce the temporary suspension of the commercial information system of all postal branches and there will be, later during the day, a new update to the public and our customers».
Hellenic Post, the announcement concludes, apologizes for the temporary inconvenience caused by the actions of common cyber criminals and assures that all possible efforts are being made for the shortest possible return to normality.».
