The certification Terra Vita - Rural Tradition & Biodiversity She is traveling to Cyprus, November 10–12, for her first appearance at the 21η HORECA-GASTRONOMIA EXPO 2023, the largest trade show for the food and tourism industries on the island, since 1995.
Along with the certification, the certified Terra Vita products from Lemnos (honeycomb/honey paste, kalathaki, rusks, flour, and flomaria), as well as olive oil from Kythira, giving professionals in Cyprus’s agri-food and tourism sectors the opportunity to discover them.
The goal of MedINA, which was developed by the Terra Vita certification ecosystem, is to preserve and promote the valuable agri-food heritage of Lemnos and Kythira as a guide for sustainable development and innovation. The Terra Vita certification is unique, as it applies to foods produced in Greece using traditional agricultural management methods that benefit biodiversity and the landscape, while also promoting the local culinary identity of these regions.
“The role of certification Terra Vita, at such a major agri-food event, is an important step for our organization as well as for certified producers. ”This is just the beginning, as we are preparing a series of initiatives to promote certification and certified products, while also working on new value chains and ideas for expansion,”, This was emphasized, among others, by Rigas Zafiriou, coordinator for sustainable agri-food systems at MedINA, and Danae Sfakianou, an agronomist and Terra Vita certification manager.
With Terra Vita certification, products from the following companies will be featured at the 21st HORECA-GASTRONOMIA EXPO 2023: Poriasi, Chrysafi and Staphyli, of Agricultural Cooperative of Livadi Kythera and all of our partner producers.

The «Terra Kytheria – Sustainable Agriculture in Kythira»It aims to support olive oil producers and promote Kythira olive oil. It is based on a cultivation and certification system that is adapted to local methods and preserves the island’s biodiversity and traditional agricultural landscapes. The program is implemented by the Kythira Foundation for Culture & Development (KIPA) and the Mediterranean Institute for Nature and Man (MedINA) in cooperation with the Agricultural Olive Oil Cooperative of Potamos, the Agricultural Cooperative of Livadi, and the University of the Aegean.
