With the actress Fotini Baxevani in the homonymous role, the text of John Scarraga on Sunday, 29/08, at the Stai Square, in Country, at 21:00.

On the occasion of her life Despina Achladiotioti on the border island of Ro, Yannis Skaragas tells the story of a special man.
It is the account of an uncompromising woman who invests in life even when it throws its cruelest face at her. It is the voice of a weak man grappling with the wounds of history and the possibility of personal joy. The Lady of the Roe flies a flag with the weight of a personal mission, an act that may not change the world, but at least gives it meaning. She symbolizes a part of the Greek soul that draws strength from the bare minimum, and renews its strength through truth and the courage to face it.
Despina Achladiotis (1890-1982), the so-called «Lady of Ro», was a member of the Resistance during the period of Occupation and from 1924 she settled on the island of Ro, west of Kastellorizo, with her husband and her blind mother. For forty years (from 1943 until her death) she raised the Greek flag every morning and lowered it at sunset.
The story, inspired by elements of her life, becomes the most relevant and essential symbol of a country that is returning to its basic principles, putting the human being back at the centre. It embodies the strength of man and, above all, his hope that, in the greatest difficulties, integrity is the business of each of us individually.
