It was with great joy and pride that we welcomed back on February 22 our former student, Dr. Konstantinos Trimmis, now a distinguished scholar in Greece and abroad. A graduate of the Kythira Junior and Senior High School, he went on to study Archaeology and Art History at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Konstantinos Trimmis has been working in the United Kingdom since 2011, and during that time he completed a master’s degree in Prehistoric Archaeology of the Aegean at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a Ph.D. on the documentation of archaeological sensations in Neolithic caves of the Balkans at Cardiff University. He works as a lecturer in the Department of Anthropology and Archaeology at the University of Bristol in England.
He shares the results of his research through lectures, essays, articles, and books. Out of love and respect for his school, he wanted to introduce the young students there to the basic principles of speleology as well as the most significant caves on the island of Kythira.
In addition, this exceptional and beloved fellow countryman accompanied a group of students on an educational visit to the Cave of Agia Sophia in Kalamos and explained to the children how stalactites and stalagmites, while also providing on the spot a wealth of other useful information about caves in general.
We thank him and wish him continued success in his scientific and social endeavors, guided by the integrity, kindness, and scholarship that have distinguished him throughout his career.
