From 15 to 17 November, the 7th Panhellenic Trail Meeting took place in Chania, Crete. This event brought together representatives of trails from various parts of Greece, such as Naxos, Kastoria, Agios Stratis, Mainalon, Pelion and of course Kythera.
Kythira was represented by the Kythira Foundation for Culture and Development (KIPA), which actively participated both with a physical presence and with the presentation of the island's trails and the ongoing programs, such as the FUTURAL Program. KIPA was represented by Mrs. Fatsea Antonia, Head of Programs of KIPA.
Ms. Fatsea presented the history of Kythera's paths, the peculiarities of the island and the FUTURAL Programme, which aims at the development and maintenance of the paths. In addition, she referred to the more general actions of KIPA related to the trails. In all parts of the country, trail maintenance is a major challenge as it requires constant care and resources. Equally important is the selection of the right trail to open, taking into account safety, accessibility and visitor interest. Finally, the promotion of trails is critical to attracting quality tourism and expanding the tourist season.
This meeting provided an excellent opportunity for the exchange of views and experiences between representatives of trails from all over Greece. Participants had the opportunity to discuss the challenges and prospects facing trails in their regions, as well as to seek ways of cooperation for the promotion and development of trails at the national level.
KIPA continues to work tirelessly for the promotion of Kythera's trails, contributing to the promotion of the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the island. Its participation in the 7th Panhellenic Trails Meeting is proof of its commitment to the development and preservation of the trails, offering visitors unique hiking and exploration experiences.
