An incident of abuse of a donkey in Kythera is taking place in the last month. The animal was found tied up in a field on the island in early April, with obvious signs of abuse. The rope with which it was constantly tied had penetrated deep into its snout, resulting in a deep wound from which, according to online edition of “Kathimerini”, obviously suffering.
The issue was also dealt with by the well-known website zoosos.gr, which, in a related article states that there is a complaint from a woman resident of the island to the Kythera police station since April 4. The website publishes a rich photo reportage from the spot, with visible wounds on the animal's head and a detailed history of the case. According to this, the owner of the donkey was arrested in the context of the auto-custody and then released on the prosecutor's order.
It is surprising that the fact, mentioned by both the “Daily” as well as the zoosos.gr- that the animal has “disappeared” from the spot the day after the complaint (5 April), so that it is not possible to take care of its wounds, while the complainant, as stated in zoosos.gr, was the recipient of abusive behaviour from the owner of the donkey.
