KAPSALI, August 7 - «The illegal parking lot that recently “sprouted” across the street from my house here in Kapsali has upset the residents and threatens our history and tradition», states with concern George Samios.
For the past three weeks, this arbitrary and illegal parking lot has occupied space on a historic and archaeological site, including the English Refreshment House, the Goldfish Tank, and an underground plumbing system with about two kilometers of underground pyramidal tunnels.
Concerns focus on the fact that the site could be an important tourist attraction, thus boosting the local economy, but has not been surveyed or developed for more than four decades.
«It is unacceptable to cover up our history and tradition with a mere parking lot», says Mr Samios, expressing his deep concern about the situation.
The problem is exacerbated by lack of basic infrastructure in the illegal parking lot as good lighting Coverage and sanitary facilities, while the environment itself is threatened by cars parked on the grass and the absence of a nearby fire nest.
Residents also wonder about the future of the Kapsali ring road, the completion of the widening of the small pier that will facilitate the coach, while at the same time the lack of parking space threatens to affect traffic.
The problem remains unresolved, with Mr Samio requires immediate action by the competent authorities to restore order to this precious historical site.
