Starting today, Monday, the onslaught of the new storm Elias, which is expected to bring intense weather conditions to most of the country, with rain and thunderstorms. According to forecasts, Thessaly, which is still counting the cost of Daniel, will be at the center of the storm.

The Monday (25-09-2023) Rain and thunderstorms, locally heavy, will occur mainly in Thessaly, as well as in western Macedonia, the western parts of central Macedonia, and central Sterea. The Ionian Islands, Epirus, western Sterea, and northern Peloponnese may also be affected temporarily. It should be noted that in Thessaly, the highest rainfall will occur in the prefectures of Karditsa and Trikala, as well as in the west and north of the prefecture of Larissa.
The Tuesday (26-09-2023) Rain and thunderstorms, locally heavy, are forecast in the Ionian Sea, the mainland (except central and eastern Macedonia and Thrace) and, in the evening, in the Sporades and northern Euboea. In Thessaly, the highest rainfall will be recorded in the prefectures of Karditsa, Trikala, Magnesia, and the southern parts of the prefecture of Larissa.
The Wednesday (27-09-2023) Rain is forecast across almost the entire country, with locally heavy storms expected in the Ionian Sea, mainland Greece (mainly in Thessaly, Central Greece, and the Peloponnese), the Sporades, Euboea, western Crete, and possibly the western Cyclades. It should be noted that in Thessaly, the highest rainfall will be recorded in the prefecture of Karditsa and in the eastern parts of the prefecture of Magnesia.
The Thursday (28-09-2023) the phenomena will gradually subside. Until noon, locally heavy rains and thunderstorms will occur in the Sporades, Magnesia, northern Euboea, and the northeastern parts of Central Greece.

According to the forecast by meteo.gr, the cold pool forming in the Adriatic on Sunday, September 24, is expected to move slowly towards the southern Ionian Sea by Wednesday, September 27, and then head towards the northern Aegean Sea.
The slow movement of the cold lake combined with the intense transport of water vapor from the Aegean Sea to the eastern mainland will result in strong and persistent local rains and storms.
Thus, the areas that will be most affected, receiving the largest volumes of water, will once again be Thessaly (mainly the areas of Pelion and Othrys and the western parts of the region), Central and Northeast Sterea, Euboea, and the Sporades. Earlier, residents of areas in Thessaly, Euboea, the Sporades, and Fthiotida received a warning message from 112 about the upcoming bad weather.

Schools in Thessaly will remain closed until Wednesday, and teaching will take place via distance learning, except for schools in the areas of Palamas, Farkadona, Megala Kalyvia, Falanis, and the workers' housing estates of Giannouli and Kileler, where there is no electricity.
At an emergency meeting yesterday at the Operations Coordination Center in Larissa, instructions were given both for the progress of cleaning projects in rivers and streams and the restoration of embankments being carried out throughout Thessaly, as well as for the implementation of the planned civil protection measures.
Restoration work is in full swing, with crews in the affected areas, with private individuals and army units racing to remove debris and reinforce embankments that collapsed during the passage of storm Daniel.
The Armed Forces are mobilizing on a large scale, as 70 personnel from the 7th Marine Corps Brigade will be sent to the area with an additional 10 boats, along with 120 personnel from the 32nd Marine Brigade with 24 boats.
