«On Tuesday, December 14, the political group “Kythira, Antikythira: We’re Staying Here” was pleased to have a productive and constructive discussion with the members of the board of directors of the Kythira Tourist Accommodations Association “Cerigo.””.
During the discussion, participants emphasized the need for a collective effort to advance the key growth sector for our island: tourism. Furthermore, the deep need for cooperation and a relationship of trust between stakeholders and local government was emphasized. This cooperation will be based on honesty.
We listened carefully to the views of the association’s members, their suggestions, and the challenges facing the industry.
Our political group submitted a comprehensive plan to the association for promoting our island’s tourism product, and we agreed on the profound and fundamental changes that must be made by the municipal authorities, as well as the formulation of a strategic plan for the tourism development and promotion of our island.
We first agreed on the need to withdraw our municipality’s tourism promotional materials and to reevaluate them. At the same time, we emphasized that, in order to enhance our island’s tourism prospects, it is necessary to appoint a Deputy Mayor for Tourism.
