SUNDAY OF THE BLIND
(6th Sunday after the Great Sunday of Easter)

WRITTEN DIVINE PROCLAMATION
The soil of the earth
Many, hearing the wonderful account of the Gospel of John, may wonder: did Jesus need to use mud by spitting in the dirt? Could He not heal the blind man by His word alone? Did He not raise the widow's son by His word alone? And - later - would He not have resurrected Lazarus by His command alone? «Lazarus, second out!»;
This, my Christians, the little ritual of our Lord, reminded us of the salvific mission of the Cosmos: All creation has one and only one purpose. The path to the Kingdom of God and His glory.
Let us remember the «6th day» of creation: «Lavon (God) they are from the earth» he made man. He, who had brought forth the light from the dark nothingness, He who only by His Word created the Earth, the Sun and the stars, He who separated the land from the sea, He who raised the grass and the plants and animals of our planet, He was the One who, in creating man, willed to use the earth, giving value to His own substance.
And, when the fullness of time came, His Son, making mud with His saliva, healed the dead eyes! This Godly use of matter opens up bright and hopeful horizons in our lives.
All material is not vain and discarded. It depends on its use. If everything everyday and humble is offered «to the glory of God», then he is sanctified and sanctified. From the simple incense and the humble candle, to the violet candle and the water of the font, but also the offering of the wine of the Eucharist, everything praises the greatness of the Father and illuminates the life of the faithful on their way back to the beginning «from which they were taken», but also - above all - to His Kingdom, where there is no more. «pain, sorrow and sighing...».
Dear Christians,
Let us pray with all our soul to our Risen Lord to heal us of all spiritual blindness. Our ancient ancestors - before the Light that Christ brought us - said in their wisdom: «Blind man's eyes are the eyes of the blind’, i.e. «you are blind in both ears and mind and eyes».
Let us not be like that, my brothers. Let us keep our minds, our hearts, awake. Let us always seek the will of the Lord. Let us keep our ears open to the preaching of the Holy Gospel. And along with the spiritual clarity He has given us, He will grant us the healing of our eyes and our earthly body. He where, «for all men are always united.», thirsty, hungry, tired, pained on the Cross... and resurrected!...
