It was submitted to the Hellenic Parliament on October 29, 2024 a report by members of the KKE, aimed at highlighting the serious teacher shortages faced by schools in Kythira. The report, addressed to the Minister of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports, accompanied by the Statement by the Piraeus Teachers' Union (ELME) as well as the Letter from Parents' and Guardians' Associations from the schools on Kythira.
The report expresses the indignation from the educational community and parents, who are calling for immediate measures to fully cover the vacant teaching positions. At the same time, the need to avoid scheduled departmental mergers, which, as noted, will exacerbate the quality of education and will further degrade the learning conditions in the schools of Kythira.
The report is signed by the members of Congress Christos Katsotis, Nikos Abatielos, Diamanto Manolakou, Yannis Gkiokas, Vivi Daga, Semina Digeni, Liana Kanelli, Aphrodite Ktena and Christos Tsochanis, who are asking the relevant minister to take all necessary measures in order to ensure children's right to education and to prevent any action that would undermine the their educational environment.
