George Pavlakis: Schools are opening and all the children and their parents will be stuck

In a scathing post, George Pavlakis sounds the alarm about widespread transmission of the coronavirus in schools and among the families of students and teachers. The physician and researcher from the U.S. predicts that once schools reopen, all the children will become infected, and their parents will subsequently become infected and fall ill as well.

George Pavlakis, commenting on government leaks that the new protocol will call for classrooms to be closed when cases reach 30%+1, points out that the teaching process will be severely and rapidly disrupted and wonders what will happen if the reopening of schools is delayed by 1 to 2 weeks.

The researcher—a physician—also points out that the long-term consequences of coronavirus infection are unknown, «but we know that the virus causes many problems in a significant percentage of people with chronic illnesses.».

At the same time, he criticizes the government, stating that someone needs to explain to it that, from an economic standpoint, restrictive measures and lockdowns that last for weeks sound very beneficial, since we mustthe total cost of the pandemic must include lost lives, lost years of work, and support for the chronically ill.

«For schools:
Let them reopen. All the kids will get infected—in other words, in a few days, many classes will be closed if the rule is implemented that a class must be closed if there are 30% infected students.
Consequently, the teaching process will be severely and rapidly disrupted, and parents will face unforeseen problems due to the outbreak, which will affect their work.
The infected children will come home and stay there, so everyone else in the house will get infected and fall ill.
What will happen if schools are delayed in reopening by 1–2 weeks? The hope is that the peak of the epidemic will pass quickly and that schools will definitely reopen under better conditions.
As we’ve said, the tsunami doesn’t last long, but it can leave destruction in its wake. Fewer infections will help the tsunami end more quickly. Those homes that have remained uninfected will also be spared if their children do not return infected. Hundreds of thousands of children will also be spared infection before they are vaccinated.
In recent years, I’ve been telling you to wait to get infected after you’ve been vaccinated. Get the vaccine first because it will provide tremendous protection. That has proven to be true. Now, for the past 1–2 weeks, we’ve been in a rush to get all the children infected before they get vaccinated. This will result in many pediatric cases.

What I don’t understand is why those who are knowledgeable about health economics don’t explain to the government the total cost of the pandemic—which includes lost lives, lost years of work, support for chronically ill patients, and so on. From this perspective, restrictive measures and lockdowns lasting weeks sound very advantageous from an economic standpoint.
