Those who have been vaccinated will have greater freedom of movement. This is the central idea behind the benefits for vaccinated individuals that will be announced today at 12:30, as stated by the Minister of Development and Investment, Adonis Georgiades, speaking on an ANT1 program.
Regarding the ongoing discussion about restaurants in this context, he said that Stores will be divided into two categories. Those that will admit only those who have been vaccinated, and those that will admit all customers.
Businesses that will admit only vaccinated customers will display a special sign and will be allowed to accommodate more customers. The store will be responsible for verifying whether a customer has been vaccinated using a mobile app, while a special procedure will be announced for minors.
Commenting on the financial incentive announced yesterday for young people aged 18–25 who get vaccinated, Mr. Georgiadis said that this is something already in place in many countries, with some variations, and that in Greece the government decided to implement it for young people, who received the least financial support of all those affected during period of pandemic.
Mr. Georgiadis said that, based on the current information, We will soon reach 60% in terms of the vaccination rate, but it will be difficult for us to go any higher, and for that reason we need to find ways to increase the rate so we can reach the much-desired herd immunity threshold.
Finally, commenting on the speculation that the economic incentives for young people point to… elections in the near future, Mr. Georgiadis said that, according to the latest poll, New Democracy has a lead of more than 17% over SYRIZA— the largest any post-dictatorship government has ever had midway through its term, and this is a response to such scenarios.
