Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, who has been under medical supervision for the past six days after contracting the Omicron mutation of the coronavirus, was discharged from the American Hospital in Istanbul today at noon.
According to the statement issued, His Holiness will remain in solitary confinement at the patriarchal residence in Therapeia for a few days before returning to the Phanar for the Epiphany celebrations.
Last night, he was contacted by telephone for the third time by the Turkish Minister of Health, who took an interest in his health and assured him that the services of the Ministry would always be at his disposal.
For his part, the Patriarch, touched by the Minister's keen interest, thanked him warmly and wished him for the New Year, as well as good strength in his long-standing efforts to fight Covid-19 in the country.
