Press release for the memorial event dedicated to the work and contribution to Greek Revolution of 1821, Greece's National Poet, Dionysios Solomos, The Ionian Confederation was established.
In it, it is stated:
«In the exceptionally aesthetic courtyard of Byzantine and Christian Museum In Athens, on Thursday, September 9, 2021, a commemorative event was held, dedicated to the work and contribution to Greek Revolution of 1821, Greece's National Poet, Dionysius Solomos.

The event was opened with a welcome speech by the Second Vice-President of the Confederation of the Ionian Islands, Mr. Ioannis Dimas, while greetings were sent by, the President of the «Greece 2021» Committee, Ms. Yanna Angelopoulou–Daskalaki and the Deputy Regional Governor of Zakynthos, Mr. George Stassinopoulos.

Next, the historian and publications manager of the Benaki Museum, Mr. Dimitris Arvanitakis, developed the topic: «D. Solomos, the Revolution, and the New Poetry of the Greeks» This was followed by a speech by the Director of the Solomos and Eminent Zakynthians Museum, Ms. Katerina Demeti: «The open and watchful eyes of the Poet's soul then and now.».

Poetry set to music Dionysius Solomos, sang alongside the speakers, the Athens Municipality Choir, accompanied on piano by the renowned Frixus – Dionysios Morzos, at the address of Maestro Stavros Beris.
The renowned director was responsible for the direction. Toni Lykouresis.

The program was presented by Ms. Evita Mentzelopoulou, member of the Ionian Islands Confederation, at the opening of which she spoke on behalf of the President of the Ionian Islands Confederation, Ms. Gregory Aikaterini, condolence message in memory of Mikis Theodorakis and a minute's silence was observed in his honor.

Among others, we were honored by the presence of: Zakynthos MP N.D. Aktypis Dionysis, Member of Parliament for Corfu SYRIZA. Aulonitis Alexandros, Member of Parliament for Kozani, SYRIZA. Vetta Kalliopi, Member of Parliament for Athens, PASOK. Yiannakopoulou Nantia, Member of Parliament for Lesbos, KKE. Komninaka Maria, the Deputy Regional Governor of Central Athens Demopoulos George, the Regional Councilor of Attica Alexandratos Charalambos, His Eminence, the Metropolitan of Zambia and Locum Tenens of the Metropolis of Mozambique, Mr. John, the President of the Greek-Russian Association Jen Ioannis, and representatives of cultural organizations and associations.

The event was organized by Seven Islands Confederation, with the support of OPANDA and under the auspices of the Commission «Greece 2021», which included it in the program of actions and events to celebrate 200 years since the Revolution of 1821.

On a perfect evening, the multifaceted personality of one of the greatest figures of the Ionian Islands, Dionysius Solomos and his contribution through his work to the struggle for the rebirth of the nation, The request of the Ionian Islands Confederation to find a suitable location for a statue of Greece's National Poet in the capital remains unchanged, as the least that the State owes him.
