The fire in Nea Penteli is out of control, with the first houses already engulfed in flames, according to Mayor Natasa Kosmopoulou, who spoke to CNN Greece. Ms. Kosmopoulou called for the immediate deployment of aerial resources to extinguish the fire front, while the fire front has exceeded 30 kilometers in northeastern Attica, with the main fronts located in Grammatiko and Kallitechnoupoli.

A total of 685 firefighters, 27 forest firefighting teams, 190 vehicles, and 32 aircraft are participating in the firefighting effort, which has now been underway for more than 20 hours.
