The faction issued a statement criticizing the Municipal Authority and the Local Property Committee. «Free Kythira», prompted by the legalization process of the port in Diakofto and the changes that have been made to the relevant ministry regulation.
According to the party, the ministry ultimately adopted its proposals, withdrawing the initial wording which, it claims, posed risks of unconstitutionality and could have led to the legalization being overturned. Elefthera Kythira reports that they chose not to publicize the issue while it was ongoing, so as not to jeopardize the outcome.
At the same time, there is strong criticism of the port's management, with references to chronic deficiencies in basic infrastructure and services for travelers, while announcements about a «port policy perspective» are questioned, which the faction characterizes as mere PR.

Since the ministry adopted all of Eleftheria Kythira's proposals for the legalization of the port in Diakofto, we chose, with a sense of responsibility, not to publicize the failed attempt to unconstitutionally cover up the sins of the Municipality and the Local Community for ALL the arbitrary projects, illegal openings, etc. – and not just for the ports. This is because the possible passing of the initial regulation by Parliament (which the mayor supported until the end with his official comment on the electronic platform – we attach relevant photos) would result in unconstitutionality and the cancellation of the legalization AND the port. They did not hesitate to gamble, showing their priorities!
Of course, the truth has an annoying habit of coming out...
Now that the issue has been successfully resolved, why the verbiage? Was it problematic that the ministry realized at the last minute and withdrew the photographic text of the consultation? (You are very talkative, Mr. Mayor, so tell us: was it Mr. Koutnatzis, Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, who drafted the initial regulation, or was it someone else—and if so, who? )
Why don't you rest on your laurels? You were caught red-handed, but we didn't pillory you; we gave you a way out, even allowing you to present the legalization of the port as your own achievement.
But that's where we ended up, considering the opening of the canteen at the port an achievement after so many years of indifference and maximum tourist discredit. The «possible» opening, anyway, because this bunch of low-level, high-paid municipal and local officials are likely to be unable to offer even a glass of water to travelers parched by 40 years of bare, sun-baked asphalt next summer.
