The Gallery fFollow your art σας προσκαλεί στα εγκαίνια της πρώτης καλοκαιρινής  έκθεσης με τίτλο «Εκεί που τα όρια συναντώνται». Στην έκθεση παρουσιάζεται ένα ευρύ φάσμα έργων που δημιουργήθηκαν από 9 μέλη της Ορχήστρας Εγχόρδων Allcomers.

Η Ορχήστρα Allcomers είναι ένα πολυεθνικό μουσικό σύνολο με μουσικούς από το Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο, τη Γερμανία και τη Νορβηγία. Τα τελευταία 20 χρόνια, η ορχήστρα οργανώνει μια εβδομάδα προβών στα Κύθηρα, με σκοπό μια δημόσια συναυλία στο τέλος της παραμονής τους. Οι πρόβες γίνονται πρωί και βράδυ καθ’ όλη τη διάρκεια της εβδομάδας στο αμφιθέατρο του πολυχώρου Ζείδωρος.

Η φετινή τελική συναυλία θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο Σύνδεσμο στη Χώρα, το Σάββατο 7 Ιουνίου, με ώρα έναρξης τις 8:00 μ.μ. Σε αρκετά κομμάτια, η Ορχήστρα Allcomers θα πλαισιωθεί από μέλη του Κοινοτικού Συνόλου Εγχόρδων Κυθήρων, που ιδρύθηκε από την Allcomers Music το 2019. Την Τετάρτη 4 Ιουνίου, στις 8:00 μ.μ., στη Φιλαρμονική Ποταμού, θα δοθεί συναυλία από τους δασκάλους της Ορχήστρας Allcomers: Florence Cooke και Δανάη Λουκίδη (βιολιά), Nancy Johnson (βιόλα) και Adi Tal (τσέλο). Σας υποσχόμαστε ένα εντυπωσιακό πρόγραμμα μουσικής δωματίου, παρουσιασμένο από μερικούς από τους κορυφαίους μουσικούς της Ευρώπης.

The idea for the Allcomers Orchestra arose from Chris Shurety’s involvement with the East London Late Starters orchestra, which he founded in 1983. Recognizing self-expression through music as a fundamental human need, the group’s goal was, and remains, to enable anyone to participate as an active musician, and to achieve this goal, structured training in string instruments is provided. The Kythira Community String Ensemble was founded with exactly the same goals and, as such, is open to everyone who lives and works in Kythira. “Follow your art” gallery invites you to the opening of the first of its summer exhibitions.  “Where boundaries meet” presents a wide range of work created by 9 members of the Allcomers String Orchestra.

The Allcomers Orchestra is a multinational ensemble with players from the UK, Germany and Norway.  For the past 20 years it has organised a week of rehearsals in Kythera, in preparation for a public concert at the end of their stay. Rehearsals are held morning and evening throughout the week in the Zeidoros amphitheatre.

The final concert this year will be in Syndesmos in Chora, on Saturday 7^th of June,  starting at 8:00 pm. For several pieces the Allcomers Orchestra will be joined by members of the Kythera Community String Ensemble, established by Allcomers Music in 2019. On Wednesday, 4^th June at 8:00 pm, in the Philharmoniki in Potamos, there is a concert given by the tutors of the Allcomers Orchestra: Florence Cooke and Danai Loukidi (violins), Nancy Johnson (viola) and Adi Tal (cello). We can promise a stunning programme of chamber music presented by some of the finest musicians in Europe.

The Allcomers Orchestra initiative arose out of Chris Shurety’s involvement in the East London Late Starters Orchestra, which he set up in 1983.  Recognising music-making as a fundamental human need, the aim was -and remains- to enable anyone to participate in music as an active musician, an aim achieved by providing structured teaching of string instruments. The Kythera Community String Ensemble has been established with precisely the same aims and, accordingly is open to all those living and working on Kythera.
