Events for the National Anniversary of March 25 in Kythira

Ο Municipality of Kythira announced the official celebration programme of National Anniversary of 25 March 1821, which includes praise, wreath-laying, parade and traditional events. The events will take place on Tuesday 25 March 2025 in Country of Kythira, with the participation of local authorities, students and citizens.

Celebration Programme

• General flag flying from the 24 to 26 March.

• Illumination of public buildings and banks in the evening hours of 24 and 25 March.

• Doxology at the Metropolitan Holy Church of Crucifixion on 11:00 a.m.

•Memorial service and wreath laying in Stai Square on 11:30 a.m., with the participation of the Deputy Mayor, the President of the Domestic Property, military and police authorities, as well as representatives of the student community.

• Observance of one minute's silence and the playing of the National Anthem.

• Solemn speech from Director of Kythera High School, ka Megalokonomou Eleni.

• Traditional dances by students and parade in Chora Kythera.

The master of ceremonies of the events will be the professor of Physical Education κ. Andricopoulos Dimitrios, while the Potamos Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of κ. Panagiotis Leftheris will accompany the events musically.

The Municipality of Kythera invites all citizens to attend and honour the National Anniversary of 25 March, keeping alive the memory and ideals of the Greek Revolution.
