Dear compatriots, friends,
I would like to inform you that I participate as a candidate for Municipal Councillor in the combination of Stratos Harhalakis “Kythera Antikythera - New Mera”.
I love our land and for the last three decades that I have been living permanently in Kythera, I have been fighting for the solution of our daily problems and the improvement of our lives on the island we have chosen to live on.
I know first-hand all the difficulties of life on our island and have experienced the painful conditions of its winter routine as an editor, as a wife and as a mother. I have decided to put myself at the disposal of the people of Kythera because I want to help our island and its people from the position of Councillor.
I hope to be part of the change for a better and more promising tomorrow. Let me be your voice. Let me convey your wishes, your problems, your aspirations, your hopes.
You have known me for many years, you will surely have noticed that whatever I do, I do it with joy and love, without shying away from work. Whatever I promise I carry out. Having your trust and your mandate, you can be sure that I will work even harder, even more intensely.
The future can be made bright with steady steps but also with acts of love, compassion and mutual aid.
On October 8, I ask you to give me the opportunity to bring to the City Council proposals that I have been proposing and presenting through my newspaper for 30 years. Kythera Summer Edition. So let us all, together, chart new paths for the next four years. I am deeply convinced that united we can change the road to tomorrow. So let us continue along the lines and in the new programmes that the Mayor has already launched in order to move our country forward.

Biography
SILK (SIA) GEORGOPOULOS
He was born in Tamworth, Australia to parents of the Kytherian diaspora. He has had a significant journey in Australian civil society through diverse avenues such as radio, culture and representation in important state and federal government institutions. She was elected to the board of the Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria where she fought, among other things, for the preservation of the Greek programs of the SBS broadcaster and the establishment of the bilingual Alphington Grammar School.
In 1992 she settled in Kythera, which she always considered her homeland. In 1993 she started the Kythera Summer Edition newspaper, which has been circulating continuously for three decades and highlights important issues of our place. All these years she has been a dynamic participant in the life of the island, supporting functional proposals to its problems: for the creation of a modern school for our children, for the prevention of forest fires, for the promotion and protection of the unique cultural elements of Kythera and Antikythera, for the effective preservation of the Natura designation of the islands and the promotion of their rare biodiversity, for the creation of a tourism perspective that will benefit both the inhabitants and the ecosystems of the island. It supports the fight against the installation of industrial wind turbines on the island. Supports the objectives of the Kythera Energy Community. It considers the connection of the expatriates with their place of origin and the formation of channels of communication with the bodies of the expatriate Greek community of Kythera and Antikythera to be extremely important.
