On Wednesday 22/06/2022 I submitted my resignation as a councillor and head of the faction «Kythira Antikythera - We live here» to the president of the city council Mr. Manolis Stathis.
It seems that my presence and my voice over the years was not liked and annoying. Therefore, on the occasion of the issue of the zoning of the public space for the development of the table seating in my shop, attempts have been made in recent years to put every possible barrier in the operation of my business with the ultimate aim of either my professional extermination or forcing me to resign. And all this for a business that had been legally renting for more than 12 years for its table seating. Unfortunately, that is the only logical conclusion I can come to. This is because I cannot explain otherwise the fact that despite repeatedly sending my requests both this year and last year for the settlement of the issue, I have never received any response from the competent authorities, even a negative one. I wonder how else one can explain the fact that, despite the assurance from official sources a few days ago that the issue has been put on the road to a final positive settlement, the matter remains unresolved with all parties involved declaring themselves incompetent. It is regrettable, but all the facts and facts seem to be finally pointing to a specific objective: my professional extermination or my silencing. Thus, after three years of uninterrupted presence on the City Council, the situation that is currently taking shape and is the result of the orchestrated attack that I am subjected to leaves me no room to serve my duties in local government as I wish.
Unfortunately, in these three years that I have served as a municipal councillor in Kythera, I have witnessed and confirmed the pathogenesis of the local system and the authoritarian and non-institutional methods practiced by the municipal authority.
It takes a lot of work to get our municipality to where our islands really deserve to be, but we will not succeed without determination and especially without a change of course and mentality.
I thank my fellow citizens for their support and the honour of being by our side. I promise that as an ordinary citizen I will now do what is necessary to rid our country of the divide and rule practices and the «day labourers» and «meritocrats» mentality that is currently followed by dividing Tsirigoians into «ours and theirs».
With honor and love for our Tsirigo
