The Deputy Regional Governor for the Islands, Ms. Vasso Theodorakopoulou-Bogri, spoke by phone today with the Chief Harbor Master of Piraeus, Mr. Georgios Skandalis, in order to be briefed on the measures that have been taken at the ports of Piraeus and Perama ahead of the three-day weekend.
The Port Captain informed the Deputy Regional Governor that, since this morning, inspections of passengers on ferries traveling to the Attica Islands have been stepped up.The checks concern both passengers and the rules that must be followed on board the ships. Penalties will be imposed on those who travel without the necessary documents and fail to comply with the relevant guidelines.
Ms. Theodorakopoulou- Bogris expressed her heartfelt thanks for the extraordinary efforts of our port authorities during the health crisis, who, going above and beyond, are ensuring that safety protocols are followed during our travels.
Finally, he stated that it goes without saying that we all have a personal responsibility—including when we’re out and about—and that we must follow the COVID safety guidelines. We all earnestly ask that you respect these procedures.
