The Athens Kythira Association’s Carnival Dance took place on Saturday, February 24, 2024, in a festive and joyful atmosphere, in a dazzling ballroom at the Athens Marriott Hotel, with dear friends and fellow Kythirians.
The Kythira Association organized a wonderful evening featuring a lavish buffet dinner, featuring music and a presentation of a wealth of material—including photos and videos of our beloved island—displayed on large screens set up in the hall.
The Association’s President, Ms. Vasso Samiou, accompanied by the Board of Directors, welcomed the guests and thanked everyone for attending and, above all, the sponsors, whose generosity played a decisive role in the event’s success.
The Association’s dance was honored by the presence of representatives from the political world, the Region of Attica, the Municipality of Kythira, and Kythirian associations and foundations.
The Association’s dance troupe, under the guidance of their exceptional instructor, Mr. Sakis Katsoulis, with their Kythirian music, energy, and enthusiasm, they electrified the audience. The surprise of the evening was the dance troupe’s appearance in colorful, flamboyant Venetian costumes as they performed ballroom dances—the foxtrot, waltzes, and polkas—with the crowd applauding wildly, reminding us of our youthful celebrations in Tsirigo.
Later, the guests flooded the dance floor, dancing until the early hours of the morning, and the celebration ended with smiles of joy and congratulations from everyone.
